A number of talented Eton Fives players came away with honours from an annual event last weekend.
The school once again hosted the Welsh Open Festival on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday 23, with pupils across from various year groups competing in the junior and senior categories.
The first day saw experienced familiar faces including Jack and Will Sissons, together with former Fives coach Steven Thatcher partnering up with some current pupils in the hope of reaching the final.
After a highly competitive group stage Matti Fiorita and Osca Clark took on Adam McGuigan and Adrian Lewis for the opening day crown, which went the way of Matti and Osca in a thrilling 12-10 victory.
Sunday saw the junior title go to Chay Bonnington and Josh Peevor, who triumphed 12-6 against schoolmates Jonathan Osbourne and Callan Earle in a high-quality final.
The final of the senior competition saw Richard Sabisky and Osca against Adam Aslam-Baskeyfield and Matti with the latter pair winning a very well contest match.
Teacher Mike Leach, said: “Overall, it was an outstanding weekend of fives and thank you to all who competed and helped organise the competition.
“We have a great deal of talent here at Rydal Penrhos and it was fantastic to see them all competing against each other in the right way which is reflective of their overall attitude in all aspects of school life.”
