Martha and Sophie secure Junior MasterChef title for Morgan

A group of aspiring chefs took to the kitchen for a special inter-house competition recently.

The Lower School group descended on the Food Studies department to take part in the Junior MasterChef competition, which saw two pupils from Wesley, Morgan, Osborn and Payne battle it out in a very hot kitchen area in the hope of securing some much-needed points for their house.

Each team came up with a series of dishes with a set amount of ingredients given to them for the task, and they also had a communal area with other items they could use to create their respective

After each final product was judged by a team of staff members, the Morgan House team of Sophie Madden and Martha Hind emerged victorious for their tasty cheesy pasta bake and banana split with a homemade butterscotch sauce.

The Wesley team of Christian Cheesley and Scott Thomas managed to secure second place, with Osborn’s Caitriona Searl and Charlotte Hourihane and Payne’s Gregor Perry and Dylan Lloyd-Bloom also receiving praise for the commitment throughout the hotly contested competition.

Head of Careers Mike Farnell commended the standard of dishes on show during the judging process, and the groups received a considerable amount of support and guidance throughout from Food Studies head Laura Gardener.

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “This was another hugely successful inter-house event and congratulations go to all our Lower School pupils that contributed to the Junior MasterChef competition.

“Their enthusiasm for every activity they take part in is a testament to their overall character, and hopefully this is a trend that can continue during the remainder of their time here at Rydal Penrhos.”
