As part of a special series of summer features, we turn our attention to our Year 6 pupils as we reflect on their accomplishments and get the perspective of departing Headmaster Roger McDuff.
The latest instalment features gifted pianist and academic standout Melissa Vos:
Despite only with the Prep School for a solitary academic year, Melissa has demonstrated on numerous occasions just what a multi-talented individual she is.
Her piano performances have been a particular highlight during her time as a Year 6 pupil, which has seen her draw widespread plaudits from the various concerts that have been put on throughout the year.
The 11-year-old is also a gifted academic that has a good grasp of knowledge in all of the core subjects, and she has also shown her ability on stage in the Year 6 Performance The Lion King Musical and Café Dolphin.
For her marvellous adjustment to life at Rydal Penrhos, she was a worthy winner of the Religious Studies prize, and also received one of the 6JM Form Prizes for academic effort and achievement at the Prep School’s annual Speech Day event last month.
Mr McDuff, said: “Melissa arrived at the beginning of this year and soon showed herself to be an intelligent young lady.
“She has taken a full and active role in the life of the school and has both enjoyed the experiences and benefitted enormously from them.
“Particularly notable is her piano playing which we have all thoroughly enjoyed. She has a kind nature and sets an excellent example to the younger children.
“The future is one of great success for Melissa and hopefully she can continue her outstanding development at our senior school in September.”
