As part of a special series of summer features, we turn our attention to our Year 6 pupils as we reflect on their accomplishments and get the perspective of departing Headmaster Roger McDuff.
The latest instalment features the talented Ivo Vonbank:
An impressive first year at the Prep School saw Ivo immediately establish himself as a much-loved member of the Year 6 group, and his achievements have been a reflection of how well he has integrated.
His academic efforts have garnered significant praise from his teachers, but his performance in The Lion King was one of the highlights of the sensational musical.
The 11-year-old took on the role of the evil Scar, and portrayed the character exceptionally well in what was a dark and sinister performance.
This will stand him in good stead as he looks to contribute to Rydal Penrhos’ senior site from September, and he was acknowledged for his wonderful academic year with a prize for Drama and a Head’s Award for being “the epitome of a good egg” during the annual Prep School Speech Day earlier this month.
Mr McDuff, said: “Ivo is a delightful boy, never happier than when on the stage performing.
“My abiding memory of him will be as Scar in the Lion King but it is soon followed by the totally confident and matter of fact approach he took when greeting both his Form Tutor and Headmaster when they turned up at the pub where he was enjoying a family meal.
“He has a real enjoyment of life and a refreshing all-encompassing attitude, and this is going to stand him in extremely good stead as he looks to take this positive momentum to our senior school at Rydal Penrhos in September.”
