As part of a special series of summer features, we turn our attention to our Year 6 pupils as we reflect on their accomplishments and get the perspective of Prep School Head Alison Hind.
The latest instalment of Leavers’ Focus features Ella Northcott:
A leader by example and a fantastic role model for young members of the Rydal Penrhos community, Ella has been one of the leading lights during a phenomenal year overall for the Prep School class of 2018.
Her appointment as Deputy Head Girl alongside India Livingstone was a role she took very seriously, and this was reflected in her standout progression, motivation and caring nature during her final academic year before heading off to the Senior School in September.
The 11-year-old, who joined as a Year 2 pupil in 2013, has been hugely influential on the sporting field thanks to her incredible talent and determination, with her cross-country and gymnastics performances really catching the eye throughout the year.
She was also a key contributor to the triumphant Year 6 play Aladdin, and her dancing prowess really came to the fore at the Café Dolphin showcase.
Ella showed the same application with her academic subjects and the Prep School Spelling Challenge, where she came within one level of completion after securing her Stage Three Silver Award.
In acknowledgement of her exceptional final year as a Year 6 pupil, Ella received the Physical Education Shield and the 6AG All-Round Effort and Progress Prize from Rydal Penrhos Prep School’s annual Speech Day event on the final day of term.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “Ella is a young lady who has so much going for her, but she never shouts about it.
“Another pupil who is into everything from work in the classroom to her efforts on the sports field and drama performances on the stage.
“She is determined and dedicated, has great independent spirit and does not need to follow the crowd.
“It is commendable that she was the only girl to sign up for the fives and cricket clubs and was not fazed by this.
“Ella is a conscientious pupil who takes her responsibilities seriously and has been a super role-model as Deputy Head Girl this year.”
