As part of a special series of summer features, we turn our attention to our Year 6 pupils as we reflect on their accomplishments and get the perspective of Prep School Head Alison Hind.
The first instalment of Leavers’ Focus features Elise Mazars:
Despite only being at Rydal Penrhos for two years, Elise quickly established herself as a valued and prominent member of the Year 6 group in a short space of time.
The multi-talented pupil arrived with basic English language skills but has worked incredibly hard under the support and guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated staff, something that has seen her thrive in a multitude of different areas including sport and drama.
Her commitment to school was reflected in her appointment as a Snowdon house captain and Prefect back in the autumn and she received the Most Improved Sports Girl Cup at Rydal Penrhos’ annual Prep School Speech Day.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “It is difficult to comprehend that less than 24 months ago, Elise arrived at the school an extremely quiet girl who spoke very little English, and here we are today, knowing a girl who is quite gregarious, and extremely talkative (in English), and happy to present on stage.
“This is yet another huge success story for us here at the Prep School as we have been delighted to see Elise settle, become an extremely popular member for the year group and make phenomenal academic and all-round progress in a relatively short time, despite some initial struggles.
“She is a delightful girl, very kind and thoughtful and took pleasure in supporting us on Open Morning, acting as translator to a visiting French family, presenting herself as a superb ambassador for the school.”
