A host of Preparatory School pupils gained further success as part of a special spelling challenge.

Rydal Penrhos staff devised a new spelling challenge for pupils last year, which has three different levels each with 110 words.

The pupils have been encouraged to work towards their incremental targets of Gold, Silver and Bronze within each stage, and a plethora of certificates have already been issued as a result of their hard work since the initiative began.

This fine list of achievements continued prior to the festive break, with Year 6 pupil Gracie Tavernor moving on to the final level of the initiative after successfully securing her Stage Two Gold Award.

Others to achieve this recognition were Head Boy Ellis Lister-Brookes, Head Girl Grace Watkins, Violet Roberts, Freya Berklay and Amber England-Bryant, with Siham Clarke gaining a Silver distinction at the same level of difficulty.

Kenzie Livingstone, Erin Mart, Honey Hodgson-Roberts, Ava Culver, Jenson Hodgson-Roberts, Steffan Atenstaedt, Ella Payne, Tomas Milligan, Lexi-May Williams, Xavier Poynton and Oscar Jewsbury also acquired certificates at various levels of Stage One as they begin their journey through the scheme.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “Our Spelling Challenge is a learning initiative that has been a tremendous success since its inception, and it is something that really inspires each pupil under our care to improve their vocabulary and spelling both in and out of the classroom.

“Hopefully this is a trend that can continue long into the future and I look forward to hearing of further achievements as the academic year progresses.”
