Two Rydal Penrhos pupils have earned a nationally recognised qualification after weeks of hard work.
Ioan Peake-Jones and Arend Franssens, Year 11 pupils at the school, successfully completed their RLSS Pool Lifeguard course, which now enables them to gain employment on a poolside if they wish.
The pair have been working hard at various sessions under the stewardship of Head of Swimming Maciej Ruszkowski and his dedicated staff, while also taking part in a series of different assessment in accordance with the programme.
They also received first aid training as part of the course, and this is one of many opportunities to gain qualifications outside of classroom hours, which enhance the experience of each pupil involved as they look ahead to their further education options and working life.
Mr Ruszkowski, said: “Both Ioan and Arend have been working very hard for the last few weeks and it really was a pleasure to work with them.
“They have shown a tremendous dedication throughout the RLSS Pool Lifeguard course, and can be enormously proud of their achievement.
“We will be running the course again very soon and hopefully this will bring with it further success from a Rydal Penrhos perspective.”
