India 2020 details revealed at Information Evening

More information regarding Rydal Penrhos’ second charity mission to India were revealed at a special event last week.

Those interested in the 2020 trip descended on the Carnegie Room on Thursday, February 14, which saw staff involved in the project detailing just what to expect from what promises to be an unforgettable experience.

This excursion follows on from Rydal Penrhos’ inaugural visit to the country last summer, where they took in some prominent landmarks such as the Taj Mahal and lent their support to various community outreach projects throughout the region.

The trip will be of particular benefit to A-level pupils that are studying either Religious Studies, Geography, Business Studies/Economics, or Biology.

Last summer’s trip saw the group visit prominent landmarks such as Amritsar’s Golden Temple and the spectacular Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

They were based primarily in the foothills of the beautiful Indian Himalayas, taking part in unique workshops with experts at international development agencies, to learn about: Sustainable Development, Fair Trade, and Environmental Protection throughout the Himalayas.

The team also spent considerable time working with Global Action well-planned poverty-reduction project with a, where we will assist in the building of a new children’s hostel, so mountain children can attend school for the first time in their lives.

The Reverend Nick Sissons, said: “Due to the highly educational value of this trip, all pupils will automatically earn the widely recognised ASDAN Universities Award, which looks excellent on University UCAS Applications.

“Global Action have 10 years’ experience in successfully helping teams fundraise. Global Action will set up a Fundraising Committee, and will visit the team regularly to advise team members on fundraising activities with the maximum financial return.”
