A talented Hockey star at Rydal Penrhos made a successful debut as part of the regional side recently.
Sammy Sherrington, a lower sixth pupil at the school, was rewarded for a series of fine performances with her first appearance for the U18 North Wales team.
The gifted goalkeeper caught the eye with a number of impressive saves during the win, and she will now begin training hard with the squad in the hope of further success.
The 16-year-old is the latest in a long line of Rydal Penrhos pupils that have achieved regional and national hockey squad selections, with the likes of Josh Thomas, Tegid Goodman-Jones and Jacob Heaton-Rue all achieving significant recognition in recent weeks.
Sports coach Dawn Jones, who works with the squad, said: “Sammy did very well and it was a very pleasing and encouraging debut.
“Despite having some early nerves, she settled in well and some her saves were outstanding, which bodes well for the future and will do her confidence the world of good.”
