Head's Blog: March 10

Welcome to the latest edition of the Weekly Blog. As always it has been an immensely busy week here at out Prep School, which is down to the amazing work of both our pupils and staff.

Learning:

As always, hard work was rewarded at our Celebration Assembly, with each year group receiving their Stars of the Week.

Congratulations to:

Year
Reception William Aspell for always being so polite.
Year 1 Charlie Lister-Brookes for his 'no fuss' approach to every task & being a kind friend.
Year 2 Laurence Richmond  for his diligence & enthusiasm for independent writing
3JW Fleur Roberts for being such a hardworking student and excellent example of good behaviour.
4CEC Zack Coverley for super energy and acting in rehearsals this week.
4JP Freddie MacLaverty for increased confidence in reading
5CC Cerys Williams for giving her all in our dance in the Moor Allerton Dance Celebration
5AG Harrison McKinnel for excellent work in French.
6JM Kalis Wilson-Lawrie for her tag rugby prowess shown in training.
6EM Sam Pritchett for working hard in Maths.

We also had three more of our pupils move a step closer to completing our Spelling Challenge, with Fflur Pierce, Keira Luke and Benjamin Richmond all gaining Stage Three awards.

Keira is now one level away from a completion, while Fflur and Benjamin have just two to go – a marvellous effort from all.

Living:

It has been another action packed week of success across all age groups, with Fives, Rugby 7s and Netball all featuring prominently.

We continue to be very proud of their achievement and you can read a full run down of the week’s action here.

This week also saw our annual Art Exhibition, where work from our Year4-6 pupils was on display for staff, parents and their families to admire.

A huge well done to Mrs Morris for another exceptional exhibition which I know was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, and a full gallery can be found on the school's Facebook page.

On the subject of Art, Hattie Maddocks was our Artist of the Week for her stunning creation based on an African Fertility Doll.

Congratulations also goes to Lucas Yu who came away with our Singer of the Week honour.

Our very gifted dancers took part in a special Dance celebration this week, where they got to show off their fabulous routine that they had been working on at lunch break since Christmas.

Well done to all our Year 5 and 6 pupils, and here is a video of the performance for you to enjoy!

Leading:

Don’t forget next week sees some of our leading lights our take the stage for the annual Year 4 play, which will be Bombs and Blackberries – a drama based on life during the Second World War.

I hope to see as many of you attending as possible for what promises to be a brilliant performance.

Listening:

Finally, this week our Eco Committee gave a fantastic assembly on Upcycling, which we already put to good use with the greenhouse and bird bath on site here at Rydal Penrhos.

That’s all for this week, thanks for reading.
