Welcome to the latest edition of the Weekly Blog, which returns after a one-week hiatus. It has been another busy week of achievements both in-and-out of the classroom over the last fortnight, which has become a trademark for our success here at Rydal Penrhos.
The last two weeks have seen even more of our pupils climbing the ladder on the way to achieving their stage three gold spelling challenge award, which has been completed by three pupils already this year.
Some are now within one level of achieving their target, which is a testament to how hard they have worked to climb the ladder.
A huge well done to all for their continued hard work in making the initiative such a success.
We also had plenty of Stars of the Week over the last fortnight, with a plethora of pupils gaining a hard-earned certificate for their excellent work ethic and demeanour while at school.
Congratulations to Francesca, Oscar Sahota, Harry, Eloise, Angelo, Chloe, Dylan, Elise, William Rutherford, Melissa, Kalis and Huw for their efforts last week.
This week saw Oscar Kennedy-Evans, Emmie, April, Nathan Richards, Maggie, Benjamin, Jonah, James Gilman, Llion, Jonathan, George, William and Laurence rewarded at Celebration Assembly – congratulations to all!
Our Year 6 group had three Chinese visitors with them this week as part of an integration programme, and they were all absolutely fantastic with our guests, further highlighting the leadership qualities that each one of them displays.
Thanks to all our pupils for their continued hard work in making sure our guests not only got the most out of their stay, but felt safe and welcomed by the entire Rydal Penrhos community.
Congratulations also go to the brother and sister team of Ella and Freddie James, who have been appointed house captains at Brecon and will look to guide them to glory when the final scores are revealed at the end of the year.
This is the first time I have had the chance to publically congratulate our Swimming squad, who came away from the recent Urdd National Gala with a gold medal performance.
On the subject of sport, our netball and rugby sides continued their sensational start to the season with victories over St David’s Coillege and Altrincham Prep School respectively, another brilliant week of both performances and results from everyone involved.
Cerys Williams, Anna Heyes and Gabriele Subkovaite recently came through their Grade 1 Ballet grading with flying colours, which were administered by the Royal Academy of Dance.
Anna performed well to achieve a Merit grade during her exam, while both Cerys and Gabriele managed to secure Distinctions for their efforts.
Our two Artists of the Week winners over the last fortnight were Maggie McDuff and Cieran Milligan, whose innovative designs caught the eye of Mrs Morris to achieve the recognition.
Mr Davies also revealed his Singer of the Week, which went to Violet Roberts and Jake McDonald.
That’s it for this week, thanks so much for reading.
