A Golf Academy star and sports scholar will be competing against professionals as he goes in search of further national success.
Charley Simpson, a Year 8 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, will travel to Nailcote Hall on Monday, August 6 to compete in the Professionals Qualifier on their renowned Par Three course.
The invitation came following a standout display at the junior event, where he managed to hit a sensational hole-in-one at the Jacklin Falls hole on the course, with Charley producing a superb shot on the sixth before watching the ball drop into the hole for his ace.
He will now join other top-ranked juniors from across the country at the showcase as he goes in search of qualification to the British Par Three Championship on August 8 and 9.
This event will be televised and Monday’s qualifying competition will be hosted by three-time Ryder Cup winner and former captain Tony Jacklin.
It has been a busy summer for the ambitious pupil, with Charley recently holding his Junior Captain’s Day at Rhos on Sea Golf Club on Sunday, July 26.
The competition drew enormous interest and saw Caolan Burford (best gross), Sam Hardy (best nett 0-21) and Mathew Mason (best nett 22+) presented with prizes from the Academy sensation.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Charley is thoroughly deserving of his place in the Professional Qualifiers and it is sure to be another fantastic experience for him that will undoubtedly aid his progression considerably.
“He has come on a great deal since joining our Academy programme, which also benefits from a dedicated strength and conditioning team that is bringing fantastic rewards.
“Hopefully the form he has shown on the course will continue next week and everyone at Rydal Penrhos wishes him the very best of luck with his efforts.”
