A pair of Golf Academy hopefuls at Rydal Penrhos performed well at a national competition.
Charley Simpson and Niall Richardson, Year 8 pupils at the school, competed against some of the best young talent in the country at the Independent Schools Golf Association’s Junior League National Finals, which took place at Radley Golf Club near Oxford.
The pair performed very well throughout on a difficult course, with both producing a number of exceptional shots in pressure circumstances to give them a solid platform from which to build.
Following a hugely competitive afternoon of action, sports scholar Charley managed to post a creditable overall score of 58 to add to his growing list of achievements, while Niall also gave a very good account of himself to further demonstrate the outstanding progress he has made in recent months.
The duo qualified for the national showcase after qualifying from the North West regional heat, and this experience is sure to stand them in good stead as they go in search of more accolades in the future.
This is the latest in a series of achievement from Rydal Penrhos’ thriving Golf Academy, which continues to thrive thanks to the exceptional work to improve each member by programme co-ordinator Ian Richardson and the school’s dedicated coaching staff.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This was a tremendous effort from Niall and Charley and they can be thoroughly proud of their efforts in the face of some very stern competition.
“Their respective games have come on a significant amount since they joined our Golf Academy, and the future is very bright for them if they continue to show the same application and willingness to learn.”
