Anticipation is building ahead of an exciting new addition to one of the most prominent weekends on the Rydal Penrhos calendar.
As part of the school’s annual Founders’ Weekend celebrations, there will be a special Rydal Penrhos Open Golf competition on Sunday, September 16 at North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno.
The event is open to current and former pupils, with a number of staff also taking their place in the line-up for what should be a fantastic event throughout.
This inaugural competition, which is set to start at 12.30pm, will be followed by a two-course meal and presentation at the club, and the cost of the event is £40 or £15 for members of staff.
The presentation of prizes will take place at 6pm, and the tournament will be contested under Stableford format (full handicap) over 18 holes.
Rydal Penrhos’ Golf Academy has gone from strength-to-strength since its inception thanks to the hard work of pupils and coaching staff led by programme co-ordinator Ian Richardson.
This has included a host of regional, national and international successes, with Reuben Bather and Charley Simpson gaining Welsh and county honours respectively.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “The inaugural Rydal Penrhos Open is yet another exciting addition to our Founders’ Weekend schedule, and we would like to thanks our partners at North Wales Golf Club for allowing us to use their fantastic facilities for the day.
“Hopefully everyone that attends will have a wonderful day and there promises to be some fantastic golf on show from old and young alike.”
