Golf: Academy stars secure victory over Denstone College

Golf Academy members picked up another impressive victory to continue their excellent campaign.

The Rydal Penrhos contingent welcomed Denstone College for a special event that was held at the picturesque Henllys Golf Club in Beaumaris.

It proved to be another extremely worthwhile experience in a competitive environment for both parties, and after a hugely competitive day of action the Rydal Penrhos team triumphed by a score of 136-133.

This was achieved by the four best stableford scores throughout the competition combined, with the likes of Wales U18 international Reuben Bather, Adrian Lewis and Richard Wolfendale playing a key role in their overall success.

Sam Jones and Christian Cheesley were others to show their promise on a difficult course, with the trio of Jacob Cousins, Osca Clark and Tom Maudsley also performing well to continue their exceptional recent progress under programme co-ordinator Ian Richardson and other coaching staff at the school.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Our Golf Academy have been achieving a considerable amount on a consistent basis not only this season, but ever since its inception.

“This is down to the hard work and dedication from our talented pupils, and the coaches that work tirelessly to ensure their long and short-term goals are met.

“We would also like to thank Denstone College for coming down to North Wales for the fixture and hope they got a lot out of their time here.”
