Golf Academy set for busy summer of competitive action

Golf Academy hopefuls at Rydal Penrhos are set for a busy summer of fixtures as they look to continue the outstanding recent success of the programme.

The Academy has gone from strength-to-strength since its inception under the leadership of programme co-ordinator Ian Richardson, with plenty of regional and national achievements to date.

It promises to be another extremely few months for the group, who travel to Fleetwood Golf Club on March 25 to compete at the ISGA Northern Open.

The trio of Adrian Lewis, Charley Simpson and Reuben Bather go in search of a significant milestone at the ISGA National Final on April 28 and 29 at Royal St George’s, and they booked their place in the line-up with a Northern Area Championship victory.

Next up for the Academy is the North of England Junior Championships at Formby Golf Club on May 6, before they make the journey to Collingtree for the ISGA Junior Open on May 19.

North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno will play host to the Daily Telagraph Junior qualifier on May 27, with Rydal Penrhos taking on Destone College in a special fixture on June 15 and 16.

Reuben will be looking to defend his North Wales Schools’ Championship on July 1, and the campaign will conclude on September 16 at the ISGA Scottish Open.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “The way our Golf Academy has progressed in recent months has been immensely pleasing, and it has added to our thriving sports provision in a significant way.

“Hopefully this is a trend that can continue throughout the summer at some very high-profile competitions.”
