Tell us a bit about yourself.

I have been playing golf for six years now and really loving it. I am a scratch golfer and a member of Maesdu Golf Club in Llandudno. I have two older sisters and live with my parents in Colwyn Bay.

What is it that inspires you?

My dad (Ian Bather) inspired me to take up golf in the first place, and I always want to be better than my fellow competitors every time I step on to the course.

Tiger Woods has been a massive influence on my career because everything he has been through, especially of late, and to still come out fighting, not give in and strive to be the best is a massive motivator in terms of what you can achieve.

Coming to the Golf Academy at Rydal Penrhos has really pushed me on thanks to the specialist coaching I receive, and the school’s dedicated strength and conditioning programme has been another massive plus.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Hopefully playing and winning on the PGA tour, and I will continue to work incredibly hard as part of Rydal Penrhos’ sports scholarship programme and in later life to ensure that I reach this goal.

How do you like to relax in your spare time?

Golf and my studies take up a lot of my spare time as I practice whenever I can, but I also like to go to the gym, listen to music and relax around the house.

What would be your top tip for other pupils hoping to follow in your path?

Just know that all the time and effort is worth it when you results coming from it.

Stick with it and if times start getting hard then always know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
