Girls' Tennis: Encouraging start for U15 and U14 squads

Rydal Penrhos’ young tennis squad began their season in encouraging fashion as their competitive fixtures finally got underway last weekend.

The school’s U14 and U15 squads took on King’s School Chester in their opening fixtures of the season last weekend, which saw plenty of eye-catching performances that will stand them in good stead for the remainder of the summer term.

All of the girls steadily improved as the morning progressed, attacking the ball at the net to win vital points off the volley.

The teams competed in every game, often only losing a game on sudden death deuce.

Notable performances came from Beau Holden and Rebecca Mann, who won two matches, drew one and lost one.

Another standout pairing from the morning was the U14 duo of Emily Thomas and Maddie Fardoe, who managed to secure success in two of their three games.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This was a very pleasing first outing for our Girls’ Tennis squad, who have been working hard on the technical aspect of their game in recent weeks.

“This has brought instant rewards within a competitive environment, and hopefully this is a trend that continue throughout a busy few weeks ahead for the programme.”
