Girls' Hockey round-up: October 17

Head of Girls' Games Nicky Head returns with her weekly Girls' Hockey round-up, which featured some extremely positive performances from all age groups at Rydal Penrhos.

On Wednesday the 1st XI played really entertaining game at home in the glorious Welsh sunshine.

Playing four quarters, we dominated possession in the first three quarters and were unfortunate not to take the lead against a strong and physical Westholme side. We held on in the final quarter, having to defend for the whole period.

The team played really well overall, particularly as we lost Johanna and Sydney to head injuries. Well done all.

The u13A girls’ hockey team travelled to Oswestry on Monday. The game started with their push back which was followed by good attacking from Ariana Milligan and Lily Davis.

At half time we were 5-2 up, with goals scored by Lily Davis, Ariana Milligan, Ella Northcott, Eve Durrans and Jasmin Beckett-Donald. There was good defence work from Ella James and all round excellent teamwork from all the girls. Final score was 12-5 to Rydal Penrhos with Eve Durrans getting player of the match.

The u13b team got off to a promising start with good play from Izzy Peevor and India Livingstone with the first goal coming from by Ruby Merrick.

However, Oswestry got in an equaliser goal and, despite the team’s good work and efforts, they managed to score another.  Whilst we managed to draw level through Hermione-Rose, sadly in the last minute Oswestry scored the winning goal for a 2-3 victory.

The u13a won 6-0 on Saturday against Westholme with a hat-trick each from Ariana Milligan and Lily Davies. Meanwhile the u13b drew their match 3-3 with Ella Northcott Player of the Match.

On Saturday a mixed under 14s and 15s team played against Westholme, losing 0-2 with Hannah Davies Player of the Match.
