Packwood Haugh Prep School Hockey Tournament - Wednesday 14th Nov

Two 1-0 losses, one 3-0 win and two goalless draws does not tell the full story at this U13s tournament. Particularly as we only lost 1-0 to Queens Chester in the last minute. Well done to all the squad, Eloise (2) and Adriana (1) were our goal scorers against Shrewsbury School. If only the girls had more confidence at the start of the day as they did at the end, then result would have been different.

The 1st XI played St Edward’s College on Saturday and struggled with a really bouncy pitch and feisty opposition. Caitlin Teece pulled off some excellent saves and, even the tireless running from Nuria and Keira, could not stop some quality attacking moments from the opposition. Well done to Gloria who stepped in to help out. However, a 5-0 loss needs to be rectified in our next match.

The U15 hockey team’s performance this week was outstanding resulting in some well-deserved success. A growing desire to want to win, mixed with some glimpses of aggression brought out strong attacking play with some fast and furious drives up the wings, and some jaw dropping defensive blocks clearing with strength to turn over the ball. Special mention must go to Gloria, Niamh, Beau and the two Hannah’s.

On Saturday the under 14s had a fast paced game from start to finish. They kept control of the game, with the attack and defence learning from their mistakes from last week’s match. Their excellent passes and great tactics resulted in the forwards taking shots at goals, which were deflected by St Edward’s keeper, which kept the game a 0-0 draw. Well done to all the girls. Hopefully they can take this performance into the future games. Player of the match was Ester.

Two fabulous matches for the U13s A and B on Saturday afternoon against St Mary’s, Stonyhurst. Both teams running out 7-0 winners but more importantly was the quality of the basic skills, penalty corner routines and will to win. Special thanks to Nuria Sendros Montolio who organised and coached the Bs.

Scorers were: Cat 1, Arry 2, Jaz 2, Lily 2 in the As and Elise 3, Ella N, 2, Izzy 2 in the Bs.
