Girls' Hockey round-up: November 13

The U13s dominated their game from the first whistle with Ariana Milligan scoring in the first minute of the game. The forwards continued to dominate play to create goal-scoring opportunities.  However, Ellesmere's keeper was able to deflect the shots and clear the ball away.

When Ellesmere got a break, they were met by Ella James and Martha Hind who both made strong tackles to clear the ball away.

This was an outstanding team performance and great preparation for their forthcoming tournament. Final Score 7 -1 with goals from Ariana Milligan, Elise Mazars, Lily Davies, Jasmin Becket Donald and Caitriona Searl.

The 1st XI hadn’t played a match together in over a month and Ellesmere took advantage of this and scored three goals.

However, we managed to score through Lucy Carnall due to quick movement of the ball from the whole team.

The team improved greatly in the second half with good play from everyone. Tallulah Batley provided some excellent saves in goal, keeping the scoreboard at 3-1 for the duration of the second half.

With some strong attacking drives from Emily Madden, good positional awareness from Ellen Jones and persistent defending from the back line, Ellesmere simply outpaced and outmanoeuvred the U15 team on Saturday.

Niamh Smith, player of the match was busy in goal played a critical role in minimising the loss.

On Saturday the under 14s travelled to Ellesmere College.  The girls had a slow start to the game with Ellesmere taking three goals in the first few minutes. Ester and Ariana with the midfielders making great runs to the opponent’s goal which ended up with Emma Hackman making the game 3-1.

There were some excellent tackles by Megan and Jasmin and some amazing hits out of the D by the defenders but the match ended 8-1 with Lily Davies player of the match.
