Aspiring Preparatory School Hockey stars produced a fine effort to add to what has been an exceptional campaign to date.
The school’s U11 and U10 sides welcomed Alderley Edge School for Girls for two specially arranged fixtures on Saturday, January 12, with both squads performing extremely well in the face of some stern competition.
A tight first period during the U11 encounter saw both sides go into the break all square, but the home side managed to secure the spoils thanks to a dramatic late goal late on in a 1-0 win.
There were a host of impressive display throughout the triumph, with a virtuoso display from vice-captain Gracie Tavernor earning her the Player of the Match honour.
Captain Fflur Pierce led by example throughout, with Chloe Tillman-Lennon, , Freya Berklay, Keira Luke and Pippa Roberts all contributing significantly to their success, as did a strong goalkeeping performance from Sophie Edwards.
Playing a year up from their age group continues to benefit the Year 5 duo of Charlotte Payne and Lily Copeland, who were both outstanding once again.
The U10 side also turned in a determined display before eventually falling to defeat, with Lily on target and Amelia Williams managing to secure Player of the Match.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “The progression show by our U11 side this season has been fantastic, and they have all bonded together and displayed the sort of characteristics that will ensure continued success going forward.”
