Girls' Hockey: Prep sides secure clean sweep at Liverpool College

Preparatory School hockey stars continued their exceptional recent run of results to close out the term in style.

The U11 side travelled to Liverpool College on Friday, December 7, and they produced another rousing effort to come away with an impressive 3-0 success.

The Rydal Penrhos contingent got off to a flyer in the first half and took a one-goal lead into the break thanks to a fine finish from Keira Luke, and there was further cause for celebration after the interval when Freya Berklay emerged from a defensive position to double their advantage.

Another neat passage of play saw Keira notched her second of the contest to round off the scoring, and the U11 Dragons also managed to claim victory after a narrow 1-0 triumph at the same venue.

A tight contest was settled when Sophie Edwards produced a moment of magic to give Rydal Penrhos a slender cushion, and they defended resolutely in the closing stages to secure a notable win.

The school’s U10 side have been in remarkable form throughout the campaign and turned in another dazzling attacking display to emerge victorious 7-0 at their Merseyside counterparts.

Charlotte Payne was in devastating goalscoring form and hit no fewer than four to lead her side to glory, with Lily Copeland (2) and Fleur Roberts also on the scoresheet.
