Founders' Weekend sporting fixtures take on exciting new format

There are plenty of exciting changes taking place regarding sporting fixtures at Founders’ Weekend at Rydal Penrhos next month.

The weekend-long celebration will be held from September 14-16, with a host of specially arranged events for current and former pupils to get involved in throughout.

There is a new Girls’ Hockey tournament for the Natalie Moss Shield, which will run on Saturday 15 from 12.30-2.30pm.

This will see seven-a-side teams play a series of shorter matches with a view to obtaining the coveted crown, and this same format will also be the foundation of the Girls’ Netball competition, which runs on the same day from 2.30-4.30pm.

Following the success of its introduction last year, the Boys’ Hockey tournament is also making a welcome return to the schedule from 2.30-4.30pm and will also be held in a seven-a-side, short game format.

The highly anticipated Vikings touch rugby tournament will take place on Sunday from 11am, and is inviting teams of ten to compete against one another with a view to securing the Bleddyn Williams Trophy, named in honour of one of the finest sportsmen to ever emerge from Wales and a former Rydal pupil.

This will be followed by a barbecue at Rydal Penrhos’ picturesque New Field site, and anyone wishing to register their interest can do so using the online form at this link:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfj2jeLkq15hSZIV37kEKk1_ejjlSfnCABEJKNAdIyCMtP4ig/viewform.
