A venue has been confirmed for one of the most anticipated dates on the sporting calendar at Rydal Penrhos.
The school announced that this year’s Staff versus Leavers’ contest will take place at the Four Crosses Construction Arena on Friday, May 17, which is the home of Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One West side Colwyn Bay (7pm).
Last year’s showcase went the way of the staff team, with goals from Adam Aslam-Baskefield, Dean Jones, Craig Stock and Peter Lavery on target in their comfortable 4-1 win.
This was the second straight year that the staff squad had prevailed in the clash, with the experienced players gaining a resounding 6-1 victory over the 2017 leavers’ after a standout attacking display.
Colwyn Bay FC have recovered from a poor start to the season and have come to life under new manager Craig Hogg and assistant Neil Coverley, who is the father of Year 6 pupil Zack.
They have gone from relegation candidates to playoff contenders in just five months, and they possess a wealth of young talent including Astley Mullholland, Craig Pritchard, James Barrigan and Danny Andrews.
Mr Jones, said: “We are delighted that Colwyn Bay FC have agreed to host this year’s Staff versus Leavers’ game, and I would like to thank Neil and other staff at the club for their assistance in getting this sorted in double-quick time.
“It is always a competitive occasion played in the right spirit, and this year promises to be no different.”
