Preparatory School parents got the opportunity to contribute to their child’s learning thanks to a new initiative.
The first of Rydal Penrhos’ family reading sessions took place on Thursday, September 21, and they will run for a four-week period leading up to the half term break.
The scheme has been implemented with the aim of encouraging reading outside of classroom hours, in addition to improve speech in-front of an audience.
This is the first in a large number of new initiatives that will be implemented throughout Rydal Penrhos’ Prep and Senior school as both sites continue to benefit from Headmaster Simon Smith’s five tenets of Learning, Living, Leading, Listening and Location.
The first session featured pupils from Year 3 and a large number of parents attended the event, which saw them aid their children with their reading of some of their favourite novels.
Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “We were delighted to see so many of our parents get involved with this new scheme, which will hope will be another of our learning initiatives that have had so much success of late.
“The sessions are a great way for parents to spend some quality time with their children while helping them with their reading which is a critical part of their development.”
