As part of a special series, we turn our attention to the leading ladies at Rydal Penrhos in our Female Focus features.
The latest instalment features gifted actress Bella Rutherford:
Despite only being in Year 8, Bella has already made a significant contribution to numerous areas of life at Rydal Penrhos.
However, she has shot to prominence thanks to her sensational portrayal of Annie in the recent Rydal Penrhos Dramatic Society production of the musical, which attracted almost 1,000 audience members over a four-night period.
The 12-year-old gave a performance that defied her years in the highly successful show, and she had already played a lead child role in a professional musical when she performed in Her Benny at Rhyl Pavilion last year.
Bella said: “I love drama and everything to do with it. I always have all my life.”
If that wasn’t enough, the pupil has also achieved success at the prestigious Chester Festival, where she picked up a pair of awards in Verse Speaking and Prepared Scene, while also gaining a second in solo drama.
Bella, who is the older sister of Prep School pupil William, is also a talented skier and scooped silver medals in both the U14 girls’ and overall girls’ non-registered racers competitions at the Welsh Schools’ Championships in October.
She is also a valued member of the school’s sailing squad and has achieved a number of regional successes.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Bella is an immensely talented member of the Rydal Penrhos community, who her gifts far exceeding what she has shown on stage.
“She is a very ambitious individual who demonstrates a great passion for everything she applies herself to, and if Bella continues to show the same drive and commitment then the sky is the limit in terms of what she can achieve.”
