As part of a special series, we turn our attention to the leading ladies at Rydal Penrhos in our Female Focus features.
The latest instalment features Prep School pupil Ariana Milligan:
It has been a year to remember for Year 6 pupil Ariana, who has been at the forefront of so much good at Rydal Penrhos throughout the academic year.
The talented 11-year-old is a fantastic all-round sportswoman and has gained a number of accolades in a promising young career to date, as well as being very strong both academically and in the arts.
She was appointed skiing captain for the season and her leadership was instrumental in securing Kelly Elison Cup from the Welsh Schools’ Championships, which was held in Llangranog in October.
Ariana marshalled the squad superbly to regain the crown, finishing second in the U12 Girls’ category and they qualified for the event by producing an outstanding display in the regional showcase.
This was followed by her efforts with the U11 netball side, who took the Urdd Conwy crown in fine style in what was a superb tournament throughout, and they following this up by reaching the quarter final of the National Championships, which is the first time any team from Rydal Penrhos had reached this stage.
If that wasn’t enough, the prep pupil was also a key contributor to the school’s swimming success this term, which saw them once again qualify for the Urdd National Gala, which was held in Cardiff earlier this year.
She has also gone on to produce a number of fine efforts in the pool as part of her association with Llandudno Swimming Club.
Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “Ariana has been nothing short of a model pupil during her time at Rydal Penrhos, and she has served as a great source of inspiration to our younger pupils that are looking to follow in her footsteps.
“She always gives 100 per cent in everything she tries her hand at and that combined with her talented has ensured a plethora of successes.”
