A parent-led group raised a considerable sum from one of the prominent social dates on the Rydal Penrhos calendar.
The Friends of Rydal Penrhos committee held their annual Summer Fair on a sun-baked Memorial Quad from on Friday, June 22.
This year’s event took on the theme of Summer Fun and featured a host of different activities that guaranteed fun for all the family.
In addition to the usual prizes and stalls, there was an inflatable bungee and slide, plus a demonstration from two members of North Wales Police and Rydal Penrhos’ F24 Greenpower team of Henry Battersby, Jacob Cousins and Chay Bonnington.
There were plenty of games to enjoy including a Tombola, Water or Wine, Splat the Rat, Spin the Wheel, Hay Bale, Jolly Jars, a Cuddly Tombola and the hugely popular Raffle.
A special Bake Off competition on the Fair’s theme showcased entries from Rydal Penrhos’ Prep and Senior sites, and there was a wealth of live entertainment in the form of the Battle of the Bands competition, plus contributions from the Community Choir and Jazz Band.
The final fundraising total has now been revealed by the FORPS Committee, with £1,633.93 raised for projects throughout the school, and the group will also be making a donation to Young Minds, a charity devoted to emotional well-being and mental health of children.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Our Friends of Rydal Penrhos committee put on another incredible Summer Fair, and on behalf of everyone at the school I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Gail Lavery and her team for an outstanding final total raised.
“Their donations do a tremendous amount of good across all departments here at Rydal Penrhos, and they also make a real difference to worthy causes throughout the region and beyond.”
