A Rydal Penrhos pupil is aiming to go out with a bang at this year’s Dramatic Society production.
Edward Lunt, a Year 13 pupil at the school, will be playing the role of Rooster in Annie the Musical, which will be held over four nights from Tuesday, March 28 to Friday 31.
The 18-year-old prefect has a acquired a wealth of Drama experience during his time at Rydal Penrhos, with his performance as Bob Ewell in last year’s extraordinary To Kill a Mockingbird play drawing widespread plaudits.
The A-level Drama pupil has also appeared as Allan in The Handbag, and achieved a 100 per cent exam mark for his performance of Iago in Othello.
He also took on the role of Laurence in the exam performance of Abigail’s Party, while also achieving a distinction in a number of London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art assessments.
Edward said: “This is my last year at Rydal Penrhos, so I thought it would be good to go out with jazz hands!”
Director and Head of English and Drama Leah Crimes, added: “I can’t wait to see the pupils on stage, in costume, lights shining on them, receiving the applause that they deserve.
“Months and months of hard work goes into a musical - not everyone realises that - and most of our cast have their GCSEs and A-levels to contend with as well, and I can’t wait for their families and the rest of the school community to see how talented they are.”
