Dr Sandeep Matthews visits RP for fascinating Sixth Form lecture

A well-respected figure in the medical field lent his expertise to a special academic presentation during a recent visit to Rydal Penrhos.

Dr Sandeep Matthews, a high profile Clinical Forensic Psychiatrist from Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust, visited the school on Wednesday, February 13 for a special lecture open to Sixth Form pupils in the Carnegie Room.

During the talk, Dr Matthews centred his discussion on 'Mental Hygiene', and he also discussed in great depth his work with Psychiatric Secure Services.

Prior to his work with the Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust, Dr Matthews was Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Clinical Director (West) at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

This was the latest in a series of lectures for put on especially for Sixth Formers at Rydal Penrhos throughout the academic year, which have been implemented with a view to giving each pupil the best possible knowledge of various significant fields as they prepare to make their respective career paths ahead of University.

Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “We were thrilled to welcome Dr Matthews for the latest Sixth Form lecture, and the detail to which he went in to was extraordinary and fascinated everyone in attendance.

“These lectures give those in attendance a first-hand account of various professions of interest, which will undoubtedly aid them during the critical decision-making process in the weeks and months ahead.
