A progressive cricketer at Rydal Penrhos has picked up another recognition for his determined efforts throughout the season.
Sam Bixby, a Year 10 pupil at the school, was recognised for his impressive application to the sport with the Most Improved Player of the Year Award, which was presented to him at an assembly on Monday, September 11.
The 14-year-old progressed significantly throughout the season on all areas of his game, something that has seen him come in for praise from Head of Cricket Mike Leach.
This was the second accolade received by the pupil as a result of his efforts, with Sam also named the Year 9 Player of the Season to seal a notable double.
Mr Leach said: “The Most Improved Player of the Season was awarded to Sam Bixby for his efforts through the winter in the build up to the season, his performances behind the stumps and with his batting.
“He is not outstanding (yet!), but he is proving to be a real trier and wants to improve although I am not sure ‘keeping is where he wants to be.
“Following his experiences at first team level, he then took this back to his peer group team and demonstrated his improved maturity and thinking about the finer details of the game and he was deservedly the Year 9 Player of the Year.”
