Ahead of the new cricket season, we will be taking a look at the ones to watch across various year groups as they prepare for a busy series of upcoming fixtures in the coming weeks.
We begin the feature with Year 9 pupil Anthony Bowe:
- Name: Anthony Bowe
- Year group: Year 9
- Pupil status: Day
- House: Morgan
Although small in stature, Anthony has proven his determination to succeed and is widely regarded as one of the most talented young cricketers currently learning at Rydal Penrhos.
The 13-year-old is a hard-working individual who is a consistent performer that can be relied upon to produce good bowling figures, and this has been acknowledged with some impressive recent achievements thanks to his efforts for school and club.
His game has come on a considerable amount since enrolling as a Year 6 pupil thanks to the expert coaching offered throughout the year by Rydal Penrhos, which include a special winter nets programme run by Menai Bridge captain Dion Holden.
Anthony is also a prominent member of the Prestatyn Cricket Club youth set-up and was recently rewarded for a series of exceptional performances with the Bowler of the Year accolade to further enhance his growing reputation.
He will be a key member of the school squad at U15 level during a busy summer term, and his ability with the ball in his hands will be crucial to any success that comes their way.
Head of Cricket Mike Leach, said: “Anthony is a very impressive individual who has the capability to win a game on his own at any given opportunity.
“He is a fantastic bowler with a very keen willingness to learn and get better, which are two traits that will stand him in good stead of what is going to be a very busy few months for the pupil.
“Hopefully this will bring with it even more accolades in the future and we are delighted with the progress Anthony is making on a consistent basis.”
