A talented young cricketer at Rydal Penrhos turned in a match-winning display for a regional side last weekend.
Arran Sen, a Year 8 pupil at the school, turned out for Stretford 3rds in their league contest against Bolton Deane Derby last weekend, and he produced another fantastic display with the ball in his hands to lead his side to glory.
The sports scholar’s side set a modest target of 147 from their time in the middle, with the visitors starting their run chase in impressive fashion to reach 41-0 in the opening exchanges.
This was brought swiftly to a halt thanks to a mesmerising spell from Arran, who tore through the order to eventually finish with figures of five wickets for the loss of just 17 runs.
His sensational outing enabled Stretford to secure a 35-run success, and this is the latest in a series of outstanding accolades for the Lower School pupil, who was part of the Lancashire squad that travelled to Mumbai, India for a landmark tour recently.
He has also made a huge contribution to the school’s senior side throughout the initial stages of the season and has boosted his experience considerably as part of the Colwyn Bay 2nds side.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Arran continues to show just why he is so highly thought of not only by our dedicated coaching staff here at Rydal Penrhos, but as part of his involvement with Cowlyn Bay and Stretford.
“Performing so well in a senior environment on a consistent basis is going to do his overall development a significant amount of good, and long may it continue.”
