A pair of Preparatory School pupils defied their age to perform well at a high-profile running event.
Cieran Milligan and Freddie MacLaverty, Year 5 pupils at Rydal Penrhos, were part of the 140 junior competitors that competed in the Dragon Dash Race prior to the Anglesey Half Marathon on Sunday, March 4.
After a hugely exciting race, Cieran managed to cross the line in seventh spot after another wonderful performance, with Freddie close behind in ninth place.
This feat was made even more remarkable by the fact they were competing in the U15 category as ten and nine-year-olds respectively.
The duo received a medal as a result of their achievement and have already set their sights on more adventures, with a possible Triathlon appearance in the near future among the plans.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “Cieran and Freddie are two of the most talented all-round pupils we have here at Rydal Penrhos, and they have progressed a significant amount under the leadership of our dedicated staff and their coaches in various sporting areas.
“To perform so well against older athletes just shows how much commitment and potential they have, and I am confident that they are going to go on to even greater success in the future if they continue to progress.”
