Charity Committee hold fundraising day for Sport Relief

A group of Sixth Form pupils at Rydal Penrhos organised a special event to lend their support to a nationwide initiative.

The school’s Charity Committee held a fundraising day on Friday, March 23, with all proceeds going towards Sport Relief.

Each pupil was invited to come to school dressed in sports clothing, whether that be different shirts, a certain profession or in Rydal Penrhos kit.

This saw a wide range of outfits including surfers and karate kids, while football and rugby shirts of their favourite teams were also a prominent feature throughout the school.

A cake sale was held prior to the charity day, and lunchtime saw a large number of pupils take part in special activities such as musical chairs and an obstacle course to raise additional funds.

Hundreds of pounds were raised from the day, which will be added to the £38 million raised nationwide for the biennial event.

This is the latest in a long line of fundraising initiatives put on by the committee throughout the academic year, which are set-up in support of regional and national causes.

Head of Sixth Form Pete Lavery, said: “This was yet more outstanding work from our Sixth Form Charity Committee for what is a very worthwhile cause.

“The fundraising work they have done this year has been nothing short of exceptional and it was great to see older and younger members of the Rydal Penrhos community coming together for the event.”
