Cardiff Met University to deliver further education seminars as part of recruitment day

Suzy Drane

Rydal Penrhos will be visited by a university this week to give pupils the opportunity to find out more about their further education options.

Representatives from Cardiff Metropolitan University will visit the school on Wednesday, September 20, where they will take part in a host of activities throughout the afternoon as part of their North Wales recruitment day.

Former pupil Suzy Drane, who is a lecturer in Sport Development and Performance Sport at the university, will be passing on her knowledge to budding netball stars in a special master class session.

During the event the Welsh netball captain will be implementing a series of skill-set drills aimed to improve technique and awareness, while also passing on some of her own experiences at high-profile competitions such as the Netball World Cup.

Drane was also part of the coaching team at Rydal Penrhos that travelled to Greece for a special tour earlier this year, where she was hand to lend her expert advice during both training and competitive fixtures.

There will also be a special seminar from the university, where they will be taking in a host of different topics including courses, employment opportunities, finance and the Student Union.

The event is specifically aimed at Year 11-13 pupils, but any who are interested in knowing more about the university and all that it offers are welcome to attend, as are parents as there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions about specific courses and university life.
