A large number of Boys’ Hockey players were recognised for their sterling contributions throughout the season with special awards.
The school’s senior standouts were honoured with a host of different accolades at the annual Sports Awards Dinner, with former pupil and ex-professional rugby star Andrew Fenby on hand to dish out the prizes as the special guest.
It has been another memorable campaign for the thriving provision, which saw Rydal Penrhos take three squads to the Welsh Schools’ Championships after the U12, U14 and U18 sides all triumphed in the North Wales regional heat.
Welsh U18 international Jacob Heaton-Rue enjoyed another tremendous campaign and excelled with the extra responsibility in his role as vice-captain, which saw him take home the Player of the Year distinction.
Captain and Welsh national goalkeeper Josh Thomas was re-awarded Full Colours for the third consecutive year, with Jacob also securing the same feat for the second straight season.
Another to receive Full Colours was outgoing Head Boy Nick Fiorita, who have been another hugely influential member of the U18 squad.
Kevin Farrell, Eddie Farrell, Jasper Richardson, Miles Poller, Tegid Goodman-Jones, Ollie Gibson and George Smith-Edwards were worthy recipients of Half Colours as a result of their exceptional performances throughout, with Kevin also receiving the Most Improved Player of the Year Award after developing his skill-set considerably under the guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated coaching staff.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “It has been another memorable season for our Boys’ Hockey provision with plenty of highlights across different age groups.
“They have all progressed and developed as a unit as the season has gone on, and all are to be congratulated on their efforts.”
