A pair of Rydal Penrhos pupils have been speaking on their passion for acting ahead of the school’s annual Dramatic Society production.
Eliza Harrison-Dine and Bella Rutherford, Year 9 and 8 pupils at the school, will be sharing the lead role of Annie for the forthcoming series of performances of Annie the Musical, which will take place from Tuesday March 28 to Friday 31.
The duo have plenty of stage experience that will stand them in good stead for the demanding role, with 12-year-old Bella having already played a lead child role in a professional musical when she performed in the musical Her Benny at Rhyl Pavilion last year.
She said: “I love drama and everything to do with it. I always have all my life.”
Fellow pupil Eliza, who plans to study Drama at GCSE next year, also has a wealth of experience having performed in plays such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest and Alice in Wonderland.
She has also played the role of Annie before on a special UK tour, and has been a part of the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.
The 14-year-old, said: “When I’m acting, everything just stops. I can express my love and passion through this subject and it feels amazing.
“I’m never going to stop doing what I love and I can’t wait to get on to the stage to play Annie again.”
