A talented track star at Rydal Penrhos turned in a record-breaking performance at a regional competition.
Elinor Davies, an Upper Sixth Form pupil at the school, was part of a large contingent that competed at the Eryri Regional Athletics Championships, which took place earlier this month.
The 18-year-old was one of the standout performers on the day, and crossed the line first in a highly competitive 200-metre race, clocking a superb time of 28.12 seconds.
In addition to qualifying for the Welsh National Championships later this year, Elinor also managed to break her school 200m record thanks to her outstanding time.
This is the latest in a series of successes for the ambitious pupil, who recently took home the Derbyshire Shield from Rydal Penrhos’ annual Sports Awards thanks to her significant contribution across the department.
This was the second year in succession that she received the award, and the Prefect was also one of the inspirations behind the new school newspaper entitled The RePorter, which began earlier in the academic year.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Elinor continues to show an incredible desire to success across a wide range of different areas and subjects, and these traits are going to stand her in very good stead when she departs for the next stage of her journey this summer.
“Hopefully she can carry on this form into the national competition and we wish her the best of luck with her efforts.”
