Promoting wellbeing will be the topic of discussion at a special parent event at Rydal Penrhos.
As part of a new initiative at the school, the first Parents’ Pastoral Forum will take place on Tuesday, January 30 from 5.15pm at the Ferguson Centre.
Assistant Head of Middle School Paul Sanders will be speaking on the subject of Mental Health at the forum, which is following on from his eye-opening Sixth Form lecture on the same topic.
He said: “I hope that it will help to alleviate any stigma associated with mental health and prevent people stereotyping. In a perfect world, they will be much more aware of their own mental health and be reassured to seek support if they need it.”
There will be another similar forum following the half term break, which will centre around preparing for public examinations on March 13.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, added: “Learning does not end with our pupils and initiatives such as this will give our parents the opportunity to find out more about a variety topical subjects.
“Wellbeing and Mental Health are significantly important in today’s society, and it is imperative that not only staff and pupils are fully aware of the implications of this, but also parents too who are equally as influential in the learning process.”
