Talented artists at Rydal Penrhos showcased their impressive work at a special event.
The department hosted their annual A-level and GCSE exhibition at the Art centre on Friday, June 23, which attracted a large number of visitors that came to view both exam pieces and coursework.
Head of Art Mark Sherrington, said: “This year’s exhibition is the most diverse we have put on at Rydal Penrhos for about five years.
“We have everything from portraits, photography and textiles, and I cannot tell you how hard the pupils have worked during their coursework and exam pieces.
“For example, one piece had to be woven by hand during a 15-hour exam, so the focus and determination shown was quite extraordinary.
“It is heartening to see all the pupils reaching their potential and working from their own concerns and interests.”
Staff members, parents and pupils descended on the department to view the stunning work, with some of the artists on hand to answer any questions that those attending had on their respective pieces.
Upper Sixth pupil Sanjita Kumar, who produced a jaw-dropping final product, said: “I originally begun working on the theme of nature through the medium of wool, before I changed to faces in my second year.

“The piece is a commemoration to my mum who was ill at the time, so this was my tribute to her through art.”
We have put together a special highlights video from the exhibition, which can be viewed below:
