Another fantastic year for FORPS!

The Friends of Rydal Penrhos committee have been extremely busy one again throughout the academic year, organising and contributing to a host of different events to raise a significant amount for charities and the school.

Their Macmillan Tea and Cake afternoon was a roaring success, with the annual Prep School Secrets Room raising more than £1,000 for Rydal Penrhos’ charity work in Uganda.

They also supported the Sixth Form Charity Committee led by Olivia Williams and Emily Cashell throughout their organisation of the Christmas Market, which was held once again in aid of Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice in Conwy, and their tireless efforts continued at the Prep Valentine’s Disco in aid of Disability Ski Wales.

The committee were also present at the RPS Showstoppers event, Sports Day and the Amnesty International Ceilidh, with the hugely successful Chocolate Bingo event another notable highlight of their fundraising throughout the academic year.

Plenty of fun was had in sweltering conditions at the annual FORPS Summer Fair, and the group managed to raise £11,500 in total for projects around Rydal Penrhos’ various departments in addition to worthy causes in the region and beyond.

This included a substantial contribution of £6,730 towards the pupil-led campaign to renovate the Sixth Form Ferguson Centre, which raised an incredible £90,000 in total.

FORPS member Rachel Simpson, said: “It is thanks to the wonderful support of parents, staff, pupils, local businesses and the community that has made this all possible.”

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, added: “We are indebted to our fantastic FORPS committee for their continued efforts to improve all areas of the school through their various fundraising initiatives, and I would like to congratulate Gail and her team from everyone at Rydal Penrhos on another outstanding academic year of events.”
