A talented Preparatory School pupil has used the half term break to gain a notable skiing award.
Anna Heyes, a Year 5 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, spent six mornings in a French Ski School over the holidays, and after successfully completing an assessment she was able to achieve the étoile de bronze (bronze star) for her efforts.
In order to gain the award, the nine-year-old had to undertake a number of tasks including linked parallel turns, ski moguls (bumps), in addition to skiing on a variety of slopes of ranging difficulty.
This is the sixth award that Anna has achieved at the ski school over a number of visits, and the gifted pupil will now begin working hard on her craft in the hope of gaining two further successes in the future, which will result in completing of the programme.
Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “This is a fantastic achievement from Anna and one that everyone here at Rydal Penrhos is immensely proud of.
“Achieving things outside of the classroom are something that our pupils thrive at, and experiences such as these are great for their overall development.”
