A-level Results Focus: Elinor

As part of a special feature, we take a look at some of the strong individual performances that contributed to Rydal Penrhos’ record-breaking A-level results this summer.

We start with Elinor Davies:

It proved to be a hugely successful final year at Rydal Penrhos for Elinor, who enrolled at the Prep School in 2006 and has thrived ever since.

The ambitious pupil was a huge contributor across various areas of school life, embracing the role of Prefect fully and becoming a great source of inspiration for younger members of the Rydal Penrhos community.

She created the school newspaper alongside Ben Gibson, entitled The RePorter, which has gone from strength-to-strength and ensures Elinor leaves behind a legacy that will continue for years to come.

The 18-year-old also thrived in a sporting environment which was reflected in qualification to the Welsh Schools’ Athletics Championships and winning the Derbyshire Shield for the second successive year.

Her charity work also came in for significant praise throughout the academic year, in particular, her involvement in Rydal Penrhos’ Green Week to boost awareness on critical matters such as climate change.

Elinor’s academic excellence was evident once again when she received her A-level results, which included an A* grade in Business and two A marks in French and History.

She also secured an A in Home Economics at AS Level, and Elinor will now be taking a gap year before embarking on the next stage of her education at University.

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Elinor’s all-round contribution to school life is a testament to what can be achieved when you fully embrace our “5Ls” ethos here at Rydal Penrhos.

“She has been with us since Reception at the Prep School and has grown into a confident young woman with the world at her feet.”
