A talented young rugby player has been rewarded for an outstanding season with a regional development squad selection.
Callan Earle, a Year 9 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, will be part of the RGC West U15 squad for the upcoming 2019/20 campaign after impressing considerably during a series of trials.
The hard-working back will now aim to make a considerable impact within the set-up both during training sessions and in a competitive setting in the weeks and months ahead, and Callan adds his name to a wealth of current and former pupils that have represented RGC’s youth and senior sides in recent years.
Squad members such as Dan Owen, Danny Cross, Mei Parry and Efan Jones played a leading role for the Gogs’ last term, with Sam Jones recently securing a move to triple Indigo Group Premiership champions Merthyr after a standout campaign.
Callan enjoyed a hugely successful campaign with the school’s age grade sides over the course of the season, stepping up and performing well to the Colts U16 set-up with great effect.
Head of Physical Education Nicky Head, said: “Callan has worked tremendously hard on all aspects of his game over the recently concluded academic year, and we are thrilled he has earned a selection to the RGC West squad.
“He is very passionate about rugby and has a steely determination and edge every time he takes the field, and hopefully this experience is one that will aid his overall development considerably.”
