A multi-talented sportswoman at Rydal Penrhos has secured a notable accolade from one of the most prominent events on the sporting calendar.
Keira Bonnington, a Year 12 pupil at the school, is now the proud owner of the coveted Derbyshire Shield after receiving the honour from the annual Sports Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 13.
The sports scholar achieved the distinction after contributing significantly to girls’ sport across a wide range of different areas at Rydal Penrhos, in addition to achieving individual triumphs on the ski slope to further enhance her growing reputation in that particular environment.
This has included a standout performance at the Welsh Dry Slope Championships earlier this year, which saw Keira come away with the U18 girls’ title as a result of her sterling efforts.
She has also played a hugely influential role in the school’s Hockey and Netball sides throughout their respective seasons.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Keira’s sporting ability has been one of the cornerstones of her success here at Rydal Penrhos, and she is a very deserving winner of the Derbyshire Shield this year.
“Her commitment to improving athletically is a testament to her overall character and something we look to install into not only our sports scholars, but to each pupil learning at living at Rydal Penrhos.
“Hopefully Keira can continue to excel during her final year at the school and I would like to congratulate her on a wonderful achievement.”
