A Golf Academy star at Rydal Penrhos has received another notable accolade from his regional club.
Reuben Bather, a Year 11 pupil at the school, has been named as Junior Captain of Maesdu Golf Club in Llandudno for the second consecutive summer.
The sports scholar has enjoyed a phenomenal amount of success in recent months, which has seen the Golf Academy member make a considerable impact on the national stage both for the school and for the Welsh U18 squad.
This included a Cardigan Trophy triumph with the national side in their annual encounter against Ireland, and the scratch handicapper shot a sensational 66 to secure the Independent Schools’ Golf Association Northern Open at Fleetwood Golf Club recently.
He will embark on the ISGA National Matchplay finals alongside fellow pupils Adrian Lewis and Charley Simpson this weekend after they secured the Northern Area title in comfortable fashion, with Reuben ranked nine in the European U16 category and sixth in the ISGA national rankings.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Reuben is a fantastic ambassador for the sport of golf in North Wales, and there is no questioning his standing as one of the brightest young prospects anywhere on the continent given how much he has achieved of late.
“He is such a hard-working individual who has developed his skills and conditioning considerably during his time at Rydal Penrhos, and we wish him well during his second season as Maesdu Golf Club’s junior captain.”
