Two Golf Academy members extended their fine form during the season with high finishes at a high-profile tournament.
Reuben Bather and Charley Simpson took their place in the field at the recent North Wales Coast Golf Association Boys’ 72-Scratch Championship, which took place over four rounds at venues in Rhuddlan and Abergele.
Welsh U18 international Reuben took the early initiative with a first round of 71, before shooting a creditable 74 in his second to put him right in contention at the halfway stage.
He went on to fire 72 in his final two rounds to finish the competition in second spot overall, one shot behind eventual winner Connor Owen and two clear of third place.
The competition also saw Charley produce a very encouraging display in the face of older and more experienced opposition, with the Golf Wales Academy prospect finishing in 16th position after rounds of 80, 85, 78 and 82.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “You almost run out of superlatives for Reuben and Charley and what they continue to achieve on a consistent basis on the golf course, and this is a testament to their incredible desire to get better on a daily basis and the ability to remain composed in a competitive environment.
“This is matched by the incredible commitment of Golf Academy co-ordinator Ian Richardson and other specialist coaches here at Rydal Penrhos, who have worked tirelessly with both pupils to ensure that their long and short term goals are met and exceeded.”
